A comment on New California Laws for Drivers - No Smoking

The Smoke Free Ontario Act was recently amended to ban smoking in cars carrying young people under the age of 16. The fine is $250.00. The rationale behind the amendment was to “protect the children”, there is a strong suspicion in some quarters that the real intent was to harass smokers and coerce them into quitting.

As you say, if the hazards of secondhand smoke are as great as they contend, why not simply ban smoking outright?

After all, just how much secondhand smoke is a youngster exposed to while traveling at 100 Km per hour, in a convertible with the top down? Yes, it’s in the legislation.

A comment on Another Fatal ATV Accident at Oceano Dunes

You call the numbers "alarming" yet you ignore all of the deaths and injuries county-wide on highways, hiking trails and elsewhere. Yes, several hikers have fallen from cliffs lately--at least one killed. Should we ban hiking? Why not? Contrast it, please. Competition Hill is a very mild hill as far as dunes go--all of Oceano Dunes is mild. There are much much larger dunes in California. Without any specific knowledge or riding experience you equate one incident to categorically prove a fact. Bet you'd never let your legal opponent pull that maneuver unchallenged. You're obviously in a position to seek work and money off these incidents. But, I bet you'd fly either direction depending on which side hired you.

A comment on Another Fatal ATV Accident at Oceano Dunes

Sad that you make assumptions without any information to back up your claim.

You state: "...limiting access to some of the more dangerous areas, such as "Competition Hill"..."

Competition Hill is not a dangerous area, if it were it would show a higher level of accidents or deaths...but it does not.

Drawing a correlation or conclusion on limited information is sad. Should we assume that all lawyers are liars and child molestors since lawyers have committed these crimes in the past. I say no... but your rush to judgement shows that you think this is acceptable.

If you study the accidents within the state you will see that the Oceano Dunes is one of the safest places to enjoy OHV activity. Any death or injury should not be taken lightly, but we must all realize that death and injury occurs in every activity and precautions must be taken.

Who knows...maybe there are circumstances to this accident which have not been released.

A comment on Another Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Santa Barbara

I don't recall my family nor I gave permission for you or anone on the internet and the news to use Gilberto Garcia Valdovinos name. We are very disappointed in that. So if you would be kind enough to take his name off that would be great and I do come here as much as I can to update.

A comment on Another Injury Caused by the Combination of Medical Oxygen and Smoking: Time for the Smokeless Cigarette?

Yesterday, I came into the possesion of a defective appliance, manufactured by a Major Corporation, that has the capacity for starting home fires and causing the possible deaths of people on a world wide scale. At the least the potential for causing this to occur in just more than the U.S.. It would seem to be an innocuous little appliance that we all take for granted nowadays and yet it's potential for causing death and destruction is astounding. Until now the thought had never occured to me of the dangers involved from this source. I will mention neither the Corporation involved nor the appliance as I am currently seeking a lawyer to take this case and hopefully get this dangerous product recalled and repaired or at the very least junked and destroyed. I have no personal vendetta against the Corporation involved, in fact my only association with them in the past has been the purchase and use of their products.

A comment on Man Sentenced for Molesting 15 year-old Girl

I know the name of a victim and the perp that occured back in the 1970's. The perp was acting as a foster parent for the State of Missouri and there was likely more than one victim. However, I heard about it from the victims' words and I know that charges were never made against the Perp. He got away with his crime for many years that I know of and this to me is the saddest part of this kind of evil that one human can commit against another. Too many times the perp never gets caught or never gets punished for the acts that they commit.
