Early Wednesday morning a young man driving his car on Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo apparently fell asleep at the wheel and drove his car off the road, finally coming to rest in a hotel parking lot. The driver was killed in the accident and his 20 year old passenger was injured.

Driver fatigue is a major factor in thousands of automobile accidents a year. According the the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) an estimated 56,000 car crashes a year  are caused by driver fatigue.

So called "Drowsy Driving" is every bit as dangerous as drunk driving. Please, if you are so tired that you can't keep your eyes open while you are driving, pull over, let someone else drive, rest, or get something to eat with a cup of coffee. Getting there late is a far better option than not getting there at all.
